2. High altitude route
During the journey, the vehicle reaches 4,320 meters above sea level. The height of the Tatio Geyser is palpable, and this tour requires at least two days of acclimatization in San Pedro de Atacama.
3. Arrival at the geothermal field
At the first rays of the sun, steam rises in thick columns from the Tatio Geyser, accompanied by the bubbling sound of water gushing from the earth. It's a natural and ephemeral spectacle.
4. Walk through the active sector
Marked trails are followed, always with caution, to closely observe the fumaroles and boiling pools. This excursion to the Tatio Geyser allows you to see how extreme temperatures and subsoil minerals interact.
5. Breakfast in the highlands
A hot breakfast is served amidst the desert landscape: bread, coffee, scrambled eggs, and fruit, as the sun begins to warm the surroundings.

On the way back, stops are often made to observe Andean wildlife and the town of Machuca. The tour ends at midday at your accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama.

📝 Considerations

  • During the months of May through August, temperatures are quite extreme, reaching as low as -20°C. We recommend coming with very warm clothing, paying special attention to closed-toe shoes, thermal socks, a hat, and good-quality gloves.
  • The entire tour lasts approximately 7 hours, departing before dawn and returning around noon.
  • Due to the altitude, it's recommended to get a good night's sleep, avoid alcohol the night before, and walk slowly. Atmospheric pressure can affect even healthy people.
